October 24, Meeting with Supervisor
In meeting with my supervisor on October 24, I discussed about a lot of things. The first one is that I talk about the result of my copyright interview that I have talked about on Journal 9 in here. Just like what Pak Benny said to me, Pak David said that it is okay for me to use a picture and make something out of it, but it is important for me to cite, for example Picture by someone and modified by me. I also need to develop something from it and use my style on working for my final work. I also talk about my methods on preserving the flowers, where I am going to use the book pressing method. Pak David said that I should have strong reason on why I chose this method. I also talk about how Pak Benny told me that a flower won't stay the same if they are exposed to light, Pak David said that it is better if I use spraying glue to coat the flower so it will preserved longer.
There are many things that are changed, and by that, the changes doesn't follow the design specifications that I have submitted before. I proposed three different design specifications to my supervisor, they are:
- Final product: I will be changing the portrait to a landscape drawing, which is a the silhouette of Jakarta.
- Size: The landscape will need wider canvas, so I am changing the 50 x 50 canvas to 30 x 60.
- Technique: Because I am choosing the book pressed method on preserving the flowers, I will need to change the sewing technique, because the flowers that has been pressed is thin, smooth, and can be easily broken. I will be using glue and the spraying glue.
Other than this, I also show my supervisor the design that can be seen in here. He said that if I wanted to show Jakarta through this artwork and that I wanted to emphasise the minas because it really represents Jakarta, I should make the building on the right smaller, and make the minas bigger. I also need to do a trial and error with the flower and the spraying glue.
