October 13, Chosen Method
According to my third subtopic that you can see here, there are seven methods that I've found. I them eliminate three of them and work on four methods only, which are: book pressing, silica gel, glycerin, and hanging. The other three, I don't have enough resources on the internet, and I think that they all take some time to be done, and so I only use several of those methods. So out of four of the method, I chose the pressed flower because it is the easiest and the simplest way to preserve the flower. When I use the silica gel, the flower is rotten. I put one whole flower in, because that is what my resources show me. In hanging the flowers, the flower became black and wrinkly. With glycerin, the flower eventually get black again, because after the water inside the flower being replaced by the glycerin, when I take the flower out, the flower will then become black again.
On October 15, I met with Pak Benny and consulted about the book-pressed flower. I brought the result of the trial on my method, and according Pak Benny, those flowers won't be able to last long if the are exposed to the light or in a moist room. Pak Benny asked me that I should use any other preservative way, for example using a formalin. I will be asking this for the next meeting.
I got an information from this website, like what Pak Benny said, the flowers that are exposed to elements such as light, the colour will fade away. It is helpful to seal the flower so that it will cover the surface and blocking the flowers to get exposed. The things that I can use are Mod Podge, or PVA glue. I will be discussing this also to Pak David.
