English - Human Rights
In English this quarter, I mostly learned about the major violation that is happening less than 100 years ago. In this class, we read the book Night. The book night is a written memoir by Elie Wiesel that talks about the path Elie was in when he had to go through the crime of Nazi for Elie's significant group of people, the Jews. This book pours out emotions, feelings, and thought of Elie when he had to go through the tragedy in his life. From this book, I learned all the things about sacrificing, learning, as well as the cruelty that anyone would have to other human being.
We were actually given many assignments regarding the book that we read as well as the human rights that are implied throughout the quarter. The first big assignment is a group project, where my group had to do a presentation about holocaust, how it started, the causes, the effects, and many other. My group that consist of Henry, Nael, Shelvy, and I actually did a great job. I did not satisfied with my score, because I got both sixes in the criteria assessed. The other assignment is also related to the book, in which we had two class period to make an essay talking about the book, and particular quote to be talked about. I got 6/8 in both criterions assessed, and I am not satisfied with it. I am actually proud of myself that I am able to create an essay in such period of time and able to conclude everything. For the improvements, I think that I need to widen up the range of vocabularies so that I would be able to use them in my essay and deliver my thoughts efficiently.
This sample can relate to the chosen fundamental topic, which is holistic learning as this topic relates to other subjects, which is humanities. In humanities this year I learned about human rights, how it started as a natural doings until there is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This topic can relate to the real world problem because the event that was happening not too long ago actually happen in our lives today. Discrimination is actually the starter of the holocaust, and as we can see from the world we are living today, we can see how people often discriminate even the smallest things.
