Computer Design
In this first quarter in computer design, I learn about the difference between toys and games. I also learn about the toy safety for traditional/ computer games. Because this is computer design, I learn more about the toy safety for computer design. The reason why there is toy safety is that the customers, especially children, can play with it safely. There have been injuries where the children get their hearing and sight sense damaged because of the games they play. I also learn that games for kindergarten is suppose to entertain and to educate the children. By having this game, it is another alternative way for the children to learn about the four main learning areas. They are Cognitive, Language, Social-emotional, and gross motor and fine motor skills. By doing this, we learn how to make computer games using the software my teacher distributed, which is Game Maker Pro. What we as a class did was to make a maze game. I learn that before making the game, there should be planning and story boards so that what I did is organised, and following the design specification that I've made. I think that this is my best work because I am able to make three rooms with three different maze game. What I need to improve is to follow the story boards that I've made before, so that I am able to do everything in the right way. I did well by following the steps to make this game possible to be played. For my improvements, I think that I should do it not in the rush, where I should be able to put every detail things and design specification before making the actual game. By this, it will help me to be more organised and follow what I've put before to achieve the best score.
This sample can relate to my MYP fundamental concept, which is Intercultural Awareness (respect, tolerance, empathy, and understanding). By creating and learning how to make a game, it helps me to develop respect, tolerance, empathy, and understanding because by learning all of the things my teacher taught us, I also learn about what should I make to show respect and understanding towards the target audience; kindergarten children.
